2007 was a blast check out the Ride Report. 2006 This year it was promoted as back to the basics. The site was smaller then last year but very nice. On top of a hill with great views in several directions. We setup camp in a nice corner with some late afternoon shade. Our corner ended up very crowded and was a little hard to get around. You could not get your easily (if at all) bike out. They had the usual bike games with a new one thrown in. Run21 girls show, Adult games, Burn out contest. The bands this year were more local in nature but good. The stage and stage area was much smaller this year. There was much more of people sitting in chairs close to the stage. In prior years it was huge crowds standing and dancing. I had someone throw a neck cooler at me because I was standing (filming) in front of him. I said sorry but this is a standing area. But since there were only a few others standing I moved. It should have been a standing (dancing) in front of the band area? There were plenty of vendors and some good food. The early morning coffee was a problem. There was only one coffee vendor early and they were very slow. By 7 or so there were a few more. One vendor did a great job on breakfast. All in all it was a great run at a nice site. I will be back next year. On a personal note. I do not know why it had to "go back to basics". It was becoming a large multi state regional type run. Like the Redwood Run. Big name national bands, large stage, Big crowds standing and rocking with the bands. On a large site. I am betting that the locals at Berkienfeld are sad at the loss of the party and revenue? 2005 The party starts on Friday night. There are many good bands on Friday and Saturday night. In 2005 the bands were Rick Derringer, El Loco (ZZ Top tribute), Dead East, and Jesse Lang. Blackfoot blew us away. Those were the headliners. There were several other local bands Lots of vendors. There is no alcohol sold on the site. However there are complementary drinks. Yes they give your free drinks. Shots of Jack and Tequila one night. Draft beer the other? Byob after that. Many biker and adult games over the weekend. This is about the party not the ride. Here is a note from the Promoter. Maddog Run 21, 2005 is over and as I said if you didn't make it, it will be one that you wish you had come to. For those that came, I thank you from the bottom of my heart and to all that I talked to and welcomed to the run it was very nice meeting you. I wish I could remember all your names. It was a run I can say was almost the perfect run. To Dan P., Randy U., and all my friends that I have met over the years at Run 21, thank you for being my friend. It was great taking as many as I could backstage, without invading privacy. I hope that was something special for all of you, because it sure was for me. Anyway I hope to see you all in the funnies someday. Maddog. Thank you for a GREAT run. |
