Sept 23.

The Oyster Run seems to have an uncanny sunny streak. I think I have heard the statement that it has never rained
on the Oyster Run. Seems a little hard to believe. But in the 5 years or so that I have been going it has always been
nice.

I had intended to do a GPS run up Whidbey Island on Saturday (I go Saturday and stay). I was going to set my GPS
destination as Anacortes take the ferry to Whidbey Island and turn left and let the GPS guide me North. But the sky
was full of very dark clouds all around and the weather forecast was not good. So as I say about some rallies this is
about the party and not the ride. So I took my car.

Fought my way out of town as you have to do now with traffic jams every direction all the time. Finally got out of town
and headed North. I drove a motorcycle route towards Anacortes. About half way there I notice nothing but blue sky
over my head. I though well you should have ridden the bike and considered the idea or turning around to get it. But
I could not stomach the thought of fighting the traffic a second time. Its still about the party. So I continued on to
Anacortes.

Checking in to the San Jaun Motel. I was one of the first there. As I always say the party is Saturday night. If you got
to the Oyster Run on Sunday you missed it. The Motels are reserved a year in advance. You begin to see the same
folks if you are staying at the same place.

The San Jaun is nice because it is just a block off the North end
of Commercial Street. So you can party all you want and just
walk home.

The North 4 blocks or so is were all the action is on Saturday
night. So the San Jaun is very easy walking distance to
everything. The Cap Sante is just a couple blocks further. Most
other Motels are not really in walking distance.
Bikes were beginning to take over the streets and were parked
along both sides.

The gang began to wander in all afternoon and the Motel
began to fill up. We all visited for a while then got ready to
wander down town. The group had decided to eat at the
Rock Fish. The crowd was building and the wait was around an
hour. I did not want to wait so I proceeded to the Watertown
Pub.

The Watertown is my favorite night spot.
It has the most room and always has a good
rocking band. The other establishments in
town generally have entertainment as well but
less space.

Paid my $5 cover and found a spot at the end
of the bar. This would do for now. The place
began to pack out and the band was doing
some sound checks.

It was the same band as last year which I
thought was great. Once they started it
seemed like they played all night without a
break. But I guess I just don't remember the
breaks. I was soon on the dance floor with
everyone else.
Check out the short video from the Watertown.
I think you will get the idea. It was possibly the
best Saturday night I have spent at the Oyster
run. I usually check out several spots but not
this year.

Sunday morning was nice. There were a few
more clouds in the sky but still some blue and
not raining. Bikes had been arriving since early
morning but the main group started to arrive
around 8:30. I was waiting at the start of the
area were they begin to park the bikes for the
local VTXOA group. Last year I rode out to
meet them. But this year since I did not have
my bike and I slept in due to the Saturday
party I missed the ride in. I decided to walk up
the block to film the bikes that were parked. As
I turned back I saw a group of around 20 bikes
and as luck would have it they were the VTX
group. So I was out of position for a good
entrance film.

We all headed over the Elks for there
breakfast. They serve eggs, sausage, and
pancakes all you can eat for $6. There are
other options but depending on when you get
there this is easy and quick. After breakfast
everyone began to walk the town. Vendors
were all over selling everything. There were
thousands of bikes as usual. The Cossacks
were there and would put on 2 shows. There
was a band setting up outside the Elks and
another at the old hotel downtown.

Generally I will be leaving around 12:30 or so.
This allows you to get out of town easy and
miss the exit crowd. It did seem to me that the
bikes entering town at this point were less then
prior years. The weather was bad all over the
rest of area. Normally when I leave there is a
solid line of bikes for many miles. Most of the
VTX group stopped at the Casino to watch the
Seahawks game.

It would appear that the Oyster Run 2007 was
again a great success. If you have not tried at
Saturday night you should.
