Clarkston to George (No I 90)

Seemed impossible a reasonable route from Clarkston to George that did not touch I 90.  This was our return from
the Lo Lo pass ride. The weather was cool and grey but not raining. We headed out from Clarkston and ran low
along the north bank of the river. Nice ride with a twisty but comfortable road along the river. No traffic and the road
appears to not see much but was in good shape. Rvs were parked all along the river. Appeared to be a couple
trailers that may have bee squatters as a couple of spots.

This was beginning to look like a great
little ride. This area is full of great little
roads. I have heard the question before
and it was asked once on this ride. "Why
is this road here"? The industry here is
farming. Farmers need to get there crops
to the grainieries and move there
equipment around. It is all rolling hills,
rivers, and canyons. The whole area in
intertwined with good paved roads winding
thru the hills, and canyons.

We had just passed a little park area and
had turned north when the group rolled to
a stop. We had our 2nd flat. The leader
had pulled up lame. We did not find a
simple puncture on this one but a crack.
The tire was on its last legs and due to be
replaced on next week. Possible lesson
on pushing a tire to far? Towing options
were being discussed. But we decided to
try a plug. The reamer tool did find one
hole and not a full crack on the inside. We
inserted a plug and applied extra goop to
the crack. There was a can of spray in
selant also avaliable that we applied.
The bike was ridden around a little to let the spray sealant build up its small air pressure. Then aired the tire up with
my portable air pump. I think the tire held up the rest of the trip with on added air. We checked it at Colfax and it
seemed ok.

The rest of the trip went well. We wandered north west on many back roads. I do not recall even seeing I 90 until we
joined it at George. We stopped at the Mardon Resort for a nice lunch. When we hit I 90 the wind began. It built to
hurricane proportions in the Ellensburg Canyon. Almost blowing my heavy VTX 1800 out from under me.

We hit a little rain in the mountains but not much. In the end we made it home with overall one of the best rides this
group had ever done.
