PNWRR Last Sunday Breakfast Ride
Date 02/24/08

The Last Sunday Breakfast Ride is a new idea our group (PNWRR) is trying out this year. The Last
Sunday every month is scheduled for a Breakfast meet and then a ride. Each Sunday is at a different
place so we can move around the area and explore different restaurants. If the weather is bad we still
meet but it is closer in and we can drive a car. As the weather improves we will move further away.

This week we tried the Sultan Bakery. It is on Hwy 2 and has a very good reputation. We were a little
worried that it may be to small for our group. The weather was good so we all rode. There ended up
being 9 of us. We were able to find a good area and table that worked very well for us. It is self service
and the Food was excellent. If you are very hungry try the Whole Hog it is 2 big plates of food.

Most of us left from Lynnwood and
had a great ride via
High Bridge and
Ben Howard road. We had a couple
riders who had never ridden High
Bridge. That always surprises me to
find someone from the are who has
not.

After breakfast we headed for some
of the nice North Snohomish County
roads. There are lots of them but if
you do not know the area make sure
you have a full tank of gas as you will
get lost. There are lots of
intersections and road choices to
make. We finished at
Old Strokers in
Everett for some more MC chat and
coffee.

Report Below.

Daren & I, John the X Man, Randy the XX Man, Larry, and Dennis all
met up at Jack in the Box in Lynnwood for a ride to the Sultan
Barkery via High Bridge and Ben Howard Roads. On the latter part of
Ben Howard Rd. I thought I was being followed by a rather suspicious
looking character on a motorcycle. My instincts proved right as it
was Fast Eddie.

Scott and Ike were waiting for us at the bakery, which was packed. A
couple was kind enough to relocate to another table so that we were
all able to sit together.

This is the place to come if you are hungry. Daren and John the X
Man (he inherited the title when Randy became the XX Man) each
ordered the Whole Hog Breakfast. The menue said "ham, bacon,
sausage", which I interpreted as meaning a choice of one of the
three. WRONG! You get large portions of ALL THREE. Ham, bacon,
three eggs, and two pieces of toast were on one plate. A large
sausage patty and two biscuits smothered with gravy were on a second
plate. John polished off his, but Daren had to ask for a doggy bag.

John and Scott had to return home after breakfast, so Randy led the
rest of us on a backroad ride north: Reiner Rd. --> Old Pipeline Rd --
> Upper Woods Rd. --> Woods Creek Rd. --> Menzell Lake Rd., where we
saw a small group of cruisers heading south. Heading that group was
yet another suspicious character on a yellow Multistrada. ...mmmm.. ..

We continued north on Robe-Menzell Rd. to Granite Falls, where we
took Jordan Rd. to Hwy. 530. I temporarily lost the group, but found
everyone at the Chevron station east of Arlington.

From the Chevron station we took Hwy. 530 west to I-5, crossed over I-
5 and headed west on the Pioneer Hwy. as far as Norman Rd. It was
west on Norman Rd. across the Stillaguamish Vally to Marine Dr., then
back south to I-5 at Marysville for a quick slab to Old Strokers in
Everett for coffee.

Parked in its own private parking spot on the sidewalk in front of
Old Strokers was a familiar looking yellow Multistrada. ... mmmmm...

Inside Old Strokers was none other than Fred the Surveyor, who
confessed that he was the guy we had seen leading the group
southbound on Menzell Lake Rd. I can see why Old Strokers has
become Fred's home away from home. The coffee room in the back with
its old overstuffed chairs and couch is a very comfortable place to
relax after a ride. Maybe a bit too comfortable as Randy started to
doze off. We all chatted and drank coffee for awhile, then headed
our separate ways home.

I took some photos which I put in an album in the PHOTOS section
titled "Last Sunday Breakfast & Ride 02/24/2008". Randy took some
photos of the Whole Hog Breakfast, which I hope he will put in the
album, as my words alone cannot do it justice.
