Lynwwood, Marine Drive, Conway, Machias, Snohomish 115 miles
Date 02/23/08

Our winter weather brake continues. It was the best Saturday this year. Totally clear skies and warm
sunshine. It was just a small impromptu ride set up Friday night. Just a couple of friends enjoying some
great Friday night music at the 13th Ave Pub.

Paul is still just getting some break in miles on his 08 Hyabusa. Bill is a Harley rider and his wife is a
casual passenger. So this will be a short local run with a couple of stops. Saturday morning we meet at
the 13th for some breakfast. In my mind I mapped out a pleasant short local route.

The ride itself was a somewhat
standard simple North Snohomish
County loop.
Marine Drive north. I
then jogged East on Norman Rd.
Norman is one of those great little
curvy scenic rural country roads.
Watch out for cow poop on the road
though. Looping back on Pioneer
Highway and on to Conway.

We stopped at the Conway Tavern.
The bikes were starting to roll in. The
good weather caught the Tavern of
guard as everyone had to move
tables and chairs around out of
storage in the outside seating area.

We continued on east over Highway
534 and Highway 9 to Jordan Rd.
Jordan Rd is another of the top local
rides in the area. I picked up the
pace a little here.

Some short Snohomish back roads back to Lynnwood. I did have a holy crap moment on Highway 9. As
we were entering a short straight stretch of Highway 9 I was going to crank on a hard acceleration to the
highway speed. I turn the bike straight and in first gear cranked hard on the throttle. It is here that I got a
lesson on the power of the ST1300. The front wheel pulled off the ground immediately and was
progressing easily skyward? Frak I have not done a wheelie in 30 plus years. I eased here down as
gently as I could. Bill thought it was quite impressive lol.

Overall a great little Saturday Cruiser style ride. Its Sunday morning now and we are forecast for some
clouds but may have another great day.
