| 02/21/09 This was one of those late winter days of hope and joy. The sun was out in force the temps rose to the high 50's. At some point you found yourself turning OFF the heated gear. Thoughts of the upcoming riding season and the closure of winter flood your brain. You find your face is sore and wonder why. Then you realize your smile is a mile wide and your face hurts. The ride started off with a large amount of freeway I had been expecting a Carnation valley run. But this was another case of this loop requiring a little slabbing to get to the start. Once we hit May Valley Rd we were off and the grins were starting. We then had a short but very nice ride into Issaquah and after a little miss direction finding the restaurant we sat down at the Gas Lamp for a good lunch. |
When we arrived at Issaquah we missed a corner and had to stop to figure out where the restaurant was. One rider had fallen behind and missed our pull out to a shopping area. So after figuring out where it was the main group headed there. I headed out for a short search for the lost rider. I did not find him and now I was lost lol. I stopped at a fast food joint thinking someone in the parking lot would know where the street I was looking for was. I approached one guy in a truck. He was from out of state and had no idea. I asked another guy walking the parking lot he answered in Spanish. Lol I was having no luck. About then I got a call from the ride leader and he gave me the address and location. It was almost around the block. After lunch the real ride began. A great back road romp passed Snoqualime Falls and up the Carnation Valley. I think the Valley is and under appreciated gem in our area. There are perhaps a dozen or so very nice but short rides. So it seems often overlooked. But you can put those rides into dozens of combinations. Check out the Carnation Valley Bonus Map below. |
