The Local Ride Track. I just want to ride. Man its that time of year. The weather is not good but there are short periods of so so weather breaks. The sun is setting later now and with the bad traffic in the area it is impossible to get out of town after work in a reasonable time frame. Once out of town you may have a hard time getting back thru the construction zones. What about a local in town ride. Is there a stretch of road with light traffic that might offer a ride release. Even if you do it several times. I may have a local road that fits that bill. A while back I had a full tank of gas I needed to empty because the tank needed to come of. I did not have and gas cans or siphon hoses. I did not want to go out a buy any. But the 405 freeway is just 3/4 miles away. I rode a 15 mile loop over and over again for 140 miles. Don't laugh. I thought this would be a chore at first. But as I completed my first 15 mile loop I found I was enjoying it. It was a Sunday and the traffic was light. The road is a freeway with many lanes a good pavement. My bike likes the freeway and so do I unless it is to crowded. Freeway speeds maybe a little better here and there. Some minor corners and scenery. A big Bow Tie turn around at the South end. I am considering the idea of carrying a small gas can and run my tank dry just to see how far it will go? So I am on my way from a call today heading North up this Freeway and it is a little bright out. I see some blue sky as I am typing. I have a couple more calls so not done work yet. But this might be a night for a few laps around the local track. |
So this is my track. I 405 with a short piece of I 5. Both will start packing out soon with the afternoon commute. But should loosen up early evening. It is surrounded by city so there are no deer or animal issues. This track has 1 place you have to stop. It is at the North end as you get off I5 and turn left. There is a stop light there. After that you move right and loop around the freeway entrance. The South end is a big Bow Tie with no stops required. Just a couple of big sweeping turns. It is pictured below. Any way just a thought on what rides may be available right outside your door. This is mine. Any in your neighbourhood? |
